Author Topic: Seeking the right, or best call of cthulhu for my skirmish needs...?  (Read 1830 times)

Big big sorry if this is a old type of topic, but I`m getting back into my Lovecraft and got my copy of Mansions of Madness to try soon. But I like a skirmish game which is needed call of cthulhu and not a close rip off with loose connections in name only. Needs to have good fun combat, build your party and design monsters would be nice, needs the right mix of creeping around and searching and then running around going insane.... Be nice if it can be set old days and modern too...

So whats on offer, and whats coming up.... surprise me...!!!

Thanks
Alan

For what it's worth, if you are willing to put in the work, you could try the D20 edition of CoC. The D20 games can easily be distilled and have a nice combat system.

Strange Aeons fits the bill perfectly when it comes to building up your party and watching them slowly descend into madness and eventual death.
It certainly works for our group and I am sure you would feel the same if skirmish with chatacter progression is what you are after.

2nd Edition Strange Aeons has some smart, but subtle, improvements over first and features greatly expanded content.

I think it offers a much better campaign game than even first edition did and gives you much more scope to use models and minis you already have to hand or that have sat unused for too long.

Strange Aeons 2nd Ed. is a superb choice for CoC themed skirmish gaming.

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

You may have guessed that I loved 1st Edition from the length of this thread....

And now it will continue with 2nd Edition, which is even better..
