The Portal: Skirmishing through the Lead Adventure Forum
« on: August 17, 2016, 09:33:32 AM »
Last sunday when I tried to tidy up my workroom I thought: oh Don, you have too much miniatures for too many periods...you could really paint something for every subchapter of the Lead Adventure Forum... :o :D

Then I picked up some Copplestone stone age blisters, I didn't even rememberd I got...and tried to think of a cool concept: how could I link all the different genres and periods together to make of all the stuff ONE GAME... o_o lol

So here is the idea I came up with.

It will be a participation game, one gamemaster (me) and one player. Goal of the player is to get through as many periods as possible...and reach some kind of high score.
Each game will be a very short skirmish cause there will be 23 of it....;)

As a gaming surface I think of something very small: 12"x12".
Each scenario will have 5-10 brand new painted miniatures, featuring the hero, inocent bystanders, Monsters and so on...
If possible I will only take stuff from the leadmountain.
The scenery will be recycled and only a few period defining bits will be added to each scenario...so the breaks between two games for rearranging wont be too long.

The over all story will be some kind of time travel through The Portal.

So here is the gaming table.

And I even started to paint the first two periods...
More on the scenarios in the appropriate sub chapters. To get some attention and perhaps someone will even join....;)

Age of Gods, Myth and Empires

Medieval Adventures

Expect some infrequent updates...:D

Cheers,
Don

Pretty cool idea
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Very interesting and inspiring idea, thanks. :)

...Just at the moment when I was wondering if I need to buy the magnificent time traveller dwarves from Northumbrian Tin Soldier (from the film "Time Bandits")... ::)

There was a Dr Who series with Patrick Troughton called "The War Game".
It featured soldiers being abducted from multiple periods in history and fighting in zones around a central control zone.
The zones include 1917, Franco-Prussian War, ACW, ECW, 30 Years War, Crimean War, Greece 4th century BC, Ancient Rome, etc.
The plot is basically that the aliens are trying to get the best soldiers from all periods so they can then be brought together as a single super-force.
