Some really nice additions to the band.
Lovely brushwork.
 :-* :-*

I like the idea of using more 'unusual' figures (Morty and 'Slim') as it really gives the band a sense of uniqueness.

I am quite surprised that the new champion fits in so well, as I did not think that their new style would blend in so easily.
It does help, of course, that that particular champ is my favourite from the newer offerings.
Still not sure about those spikes on the shoulder pad, though....

Cheers. The big guy is my favourite of the current Nurgle range too. I did consider removing the shoulder spikes, but I think they help visually balance the massive axe so left them. I trimmed the very ends off though - like a lot of current GW plastic, they were needlessly pointy and fragile. I did remove the skull tied at his waist too as it didn't really bring much to the party.

I'm tempted by the similar Putrid Blightkings, as I'd like to fiddle around getting the best combinations of parts, but I think they'd diminish the impact of this guy. It's a shame the Blightking set isn't a bit more varied in body shape and size.

The final three champions will be the two Jes Goodwin Nurgle champs from 2001-ish and an old Chaos Sorcerer, Stabb the Acolyte. They all fit in quite nicely, though the 2001 champs are a bit more finely detailed than both the old champions and the newer plastic guy.

Nice figures, nurgle classic models and moderns conversions are my favorite fantasy subject.

OUTSTANDING! The painted Chaos Lads & Thingies are all BEAUTIFUL...SUPERB brushwork & color choices. They give the unpainted pieces an aura of imminent UBERCOOLNESS. VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks guys.

may i ask how you painted the bases, Andrew?

The painting is nice and quick, the texturing is not...

The texture is GW textured paint, some sand and model railway ballast superglued on in patches, then everything stippled with GW Liquid Greenstuff to tie it all together.

The painting is a base of GW Rakarth Flesh, wash of Army Painter Strong tone. Varnish. Wash of powdered artist pastel (light brown) mixed in white spirit. The pastel/white spirit wash is only shown in the most recent photos as I went back and added it to the already complete figures.
