New Rules from Empress! Operation Squad Modern War

Won golden shovel for finding that forgotten thread...

I personally like Operation Squad in WW2 setting. I have never played with modern version however, but idea seemed interesting.

Reading thread here it seems that operation squad modern had some major flaws but I think that criticism was too harsh here.
No game is flawless, also FoF praised here also has some flaws and rules confusion.

Also some flaws of OS were fixed later (RPG's were added).


System (OS Modern) is abandoned now I suppose but after some tweaks it could have been good gap between platoon size oriented FoF and complicated squad level Skirmish Sangin...

Maybe game is not intended for ultra modern skirmishes but still I was thinking of using OS Modern rules in Bush wars patrol skirmishes - so covering time period between 1950 - 1980.

Unfortunately the rulebook is virtually unavailable now.

I like both, but the support from the publisher is very, very bad. I tried their Forum, but the only result is, that I get spam-mailed by italian spammers. It is an intersting, but unsupported system.
And, I think, Empress is no longer supporting it.

Yes the system/forum is quite old, but you can write che authors, it's easy to find their accounts in the various threads and send a PM, they always replied to me.
And yes... the game is not longer in production because a NEW version is coming (this year as far as I know); new version very upgraded like they did with Operation Squad Evolution and more.
