JURASSIC PARK (09th Jan.: Dr Ian Malcolm)
« on: August 28, 2016, 04:08:47 PM »
WELCOME TO JURASSIC PARK!

Hello everyone!
I’ve been already planning a certain project that is very special and important for me: the JURASSIC PARK.

As a huge fan of the book and movie series, I’ve been wondering why through all the years nobody came up with the idea to transform that topic into a tabletop wargame. Matter of fact Jurassic Park would be working perfect as a little „Lost World“ skirmish game. If you see it like this, Jurassic Park is pure pulp.

As I mentioned before, I have been thinking and planning this project for a long time and it has just arrived in the first creation stages. The first minis got painted, toy cars like the popular Jeep Wrangler are getting converted and repainted, lots of graphics for decals are created and even the logo for the park gate has been laser-cut out of MDF.

As I’m just primarily a painter and photographer, the first big goal will be creating iconic scenes from the first movie in 28mm scale. Even the book contains some very interesting scenes that didn’t make it into the movie, for example a river boat attack on Isla Nublar. I’m aiming to imitate the look of the first movie 100% because of its iconic recognizable design.

This time my approach to this project will be different than just showing the final cinematic photographs as a end result. I want to give you more insights in the project process with loads of upcoming WIP shots. Since you can’t find any project like this in the popular wargaming forums, it’s maybe double fun for you to trace the full process.

One of the main characters makes the kick off of the project, InGen CEO and founder of Jurassic Park: MR JOHN HAMMOND. My buddy Marc created this model with parts of two victorian Foundry miniatures, a little bit of Green Stuff and a big load of motivation. Thanks again for that!

I hope you like the start, even if painting a multi billionaire in his white shirt is so much fun, I can’t wait for painting those velociraptors.

And if you have any ideas, inspiration, recommendations or wishes: I can’t wait to hear them!

Best wishes,
Daniel

If you're wanting to build the park and want some fences for it, the Raptor Attack playset from the JP3 range has several rather nice ones that interlock. They're the same as the ones from the old JP Command Center one, but a different color and tend to be far cheaper. The Command Center Gate is also one that works rather well there for it.Both tend to pop up on Ebay often enough.

The Die Cast Dilo from the original JP toy range is pretty damn close to the right scale for 28mm. I think the Raptor is also the right size

A very nice figure and really well painted.

I was in Poundland at the weekend and they have some really nice Dinosaurs in.Five different one's.They look to be knock-off's of the Schlier one's and still good quality.

 :-* :-* :-*

Some time ago a guy developed a JP mod for the Tusk game. I got it and projected something like this, but never turned it into practice, so you have both my admiration and interest. I'd love to see what is your choice of minis and all the stuff around.
Oh, man, I'm excited about this! :)

Hey guys!
Many thanks! This is pure Motivation!
I'm currently looking for miniatures that I can use as a base for converting them into the main characters of the movie. I even have almost everyone together, except Lex and Tim, the two kids. Any Ideas and suggestions?

If I remember right I had one of those as a kid. Guess it's time to visit my parents again, I could find a Dilophosaurus somewhere on their attic. ;D thank you for the tip!

31st August: EAST DOCK SIGN
In the meantime I created the famous east dock road sign and the next main character is also ready to get painted.  :)

Cheers, Daniel

As a lifelong Jurassic Park fan and one time dinosaur nut, I fully approve and look forward to seeing this project develop. Following this on FB too. It's a project I hoped to do myself one day but it would be no where near as awesome as this already is. I expect great things.
