Painted 15mm Star Army from Rebel Minis
« on: September 06, 2016, 06:39:55 AM »
I painted up some 15mm Star Army from Rebel Minis.  They represent the quasi-military space exploration arm of the Core Worlds Navy known as "SpaceEk."  I always thought the 40k space wolves colour scheme was both cool and silly, so I went with a less wolfy version of it:

It's just block painting, varnish and then a water colour wash in payne's grey.  Oh, and some red ink/varnish on the visors.

Great base work on the minis and I really love the alien landscape.

Bump for 15 mm  :)

The "space wolves" colours are a good choice, sans fur cloaks and giant beards they're pretty clean and high techy looking.  They actually work as camo with the rocks and yellow trees on your table, too... sort of.  I think your visors would look a lot better with a reflective point highlight in one corner, if you're into that style.

An exchange from the blog entry for those who didn't look at it:

"Hey Sarge, Galugadesh is mostly an arid planet right?  How about some brown or desert camo or something?"

"Jones, you know the regs.  If the Central Worlds are not on a formal war footing, we can only deploy in our peace officer uniforms.  So that means baby blue and yellow."

"Sarge is right.  At least we don't have to wear those banner polls sticking out the top of our power packs like in the old days."

"Corporal, that didn't really happen, did it?"

"Yeah, and we had to howl like animals and pretend to be some sort of space vikings.  And wear wolf pelts and cover everything with old earth runes.  And our high command drove around in a sleigh like Santa-- only it hovered."

"With all due respect, I think you're full of shit sir.  No one would do that."

 ;)

I probably will go back and put the dot in.  It's a simple thing to do.  I'll also have to apply a gloss coat to the visors after the miniatures get their matte spray.
