I'm not sure who manufactured this miniature, maybe someone here knows.  I have had in a bin for several years and finally decided to sitdown and paint this model.  The metal took a ton of prep work, pretty rough casting to deal with.  I left some of that roughness in the cape, normally I would fix that, but I thought it looked like a neat little tattered effect.

As rough as the casting was, I kind of like the dynamic of the pose and I think my paint scheme, simple, was effective.

Great looking unit.

I see 'Mad Eric' is up to his tricks again. Honestly you can't take him anywhere. Two shandies and he always strips off his shirt and goes berserk. So embarrassing.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

Another Saxon Warlord.  I have no idea who made this figure.  I tried to make it look good, but believe there is not much I can do to make it look good.  I was not really feeling this model.

I do like how the shield turned out.

Looks good to me, you did him right, a pretty menacing character he is.
And I hope everything will turn out allright on your personal situation...

This is a wonderful thread, full of well thought out eye candy.

Each unit looks amazing and is a testament to your will to deal with this thing.
Well done on all counts and please keep posting.

Another Saxon, this time Gripping Beast's version of Alfred.  After spending some time painting this miniature, if I ever work on another, I need to convert it, its not an ultra cool miniature.  I think they missed the boat on the sculpt.

I have this mini as well. I converted mine to be Uhtred of Bebbanburg though. The sculpt towers over the plastics I have used for the majority of my warriors and it seems a little plain to be the King of Wessex, but fits perfectly as the mighty warlord Uhtred IMO.

I love the paint job you've given yours, the red cloak in particular is very nice :)

I had to go look for that conversion.  Good job love it.  That is kind of on the order of what I was thinking, off with his head.  I think the head is the most disappointing portion of this sculpt.

This mini I'm planning to sell and will replace with Saxon Miniatures King Alfred, much more royal looking sculpt.

Well, every one has different things that they like aircav.   :)

This is another mini that I just finished.  I truly love this sculpt by Tre Manor at Red Box Games.  Its super dynamic, its Mad Angus.  I just wish its scale would fit better with everything else that I'm painting for my Dark Ages stuff, but the head is tiny in comparison.  All that said its good fun to paint.  There are a couple more photos of of it on my blog and facebook page.

Here's one of my converted plastic Gripping Beast Vikings, acting as a warlord.

A few very subtle conversions in this miniature.
