Latest project: Reaper Fire Giants
« on: September 13, 2016, 11:11:25 PM »
Newest figure off the workbench, Reaper Bones Fire Giant Warrior:

Big chunky model, remounted on a 60mm base.

Rather like the sculpting, even if the sword is a bit on the ridiculously thick side.

Like many of Reaper's giants, it's posed to be looking down at about the level a human being would standing at if they were standing at their own melee range.

The stock figure comes with a pair of spiked iron balls on chains hanging from his belt, but frankly they looked a little too ridiculous to me so I left them off and puttied over their mounting holes.  The idea was obviously for them to be a defense against smaller (man-sized) creatures trying to get in close to him, but at the height they were hanging at they were also pretty much going to bash him right in the knees repeatedly.

I like a lot of the Reaper Giants...sadly this guy isnt one of them.  Just doesn't work for me.  The paintwork is very nice though!

Well, I'll admit he's not my favorite sculpt of the subject ever.  I like the "bodyguard" version here quite a bit more.

More dynamic pose, and the two-handed grip wakes the ridiculously huge sword seem like it's got more weight to it.

Then again, I may like him just because he reminds me vaguely of Siegfried from Soul Calibur.
