Always bums me out
« on: September 15, 2016, 11:24:41 PM »
Does this happen to you? You just learned about some figures and you get all excited only to find that
the company that makes them has closed and you can't get a hold of the person that bought the molds?
Thus you can't get the figures that you just found out about and really want to get?

I just saw the Texan Scrunts from Olley's Armies. Would love to get some of these. The molds were sold to
Sam Wong who, by what I can tell, never put them back up for sale. Nor can I find an email address for him
so I can check it out. Blast! Anyone got any information or the figures for sale... ;)

This has actually happen to me more than once. You?

I feel your frustration, I've had the same with Mike Broadbent's Teddy Bears:

Von Lucky,

What type of the Teddy Bears are you looking for?

I have a bunch of the cowbears.

I know the feeling. I have been collecting & painting figures for about 50 years now. I have missed out on more figures that I wanted more times than I can count.  :'(

Thanks for the offer. I was more after the SYW range, but I have resigned that my current collection will be for skirmish wargaming and have rebased them as such (finally painted the British for the LPL this year after holding on to hopefully expand the collection for years).

The best answer, and one not appropriate if you find them after the fact, as you did, is that we all need to buy the minis we like immediately! Support those cool ideas, and spend a little cash to keep these tiny businesses going.

Most of my favorite mini lines are now dead, so if I see something niche and cool, I try to get behind it. Nightfolk, I'm looking at you! :)

Yes, the Lacewars style Teddy Bears were my wife's second favorite gift miniatures (Right after then Bunnies and Burrows one.)

Sadly OOP.

I feel this way about the old, pre-Daler-Rowney formula of FW black ink, at the mo.

Found a photo of early Nap era British in top hats. Caption said they were from 1st Corps. Checked 1st Corps site but no such figs. Emailed them. Got response very quickly (thanks!) that the molds were in bad shape when 1st Corps bought them, so no more figs. Bummer.
