US Korean War figs?
« on: September 11, 2016, 11:31:26 PM »
Does anyone make 28mm US Army figures for the Korean War. Preferably without packs so I can use them for ANC in the Congo of the 1960s.  Or even the Force Publique figs?

"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer. If you fancy winter uniformed figures then you can use some of the Warlord range or with adjustments to leg wear, the Wargames Factory late war US infantry (lengthen trousers file back gaiters). Another possible option would be to use the Brigade Games Atomic Cafe range of 'Federal Forces'.

If you want summer uniforms, either the M-1943 or later OG-107 patterns, then the nearest you will find are either (a) the Artizan  Devils Brigade or (b) the Artizan US infantry.

The former are mixed in packs, which means you might get one in four usable figures in shirts. They also are all equipped with pistol holsters, which are a bugger to file off due to their placement.

The latter are also in mixed packs (maybe 50% in shirt sleeves, across the range) and you need to file back the gaiters and putty in trousers and combat boots.

For wargaming purposes it truly is the forgotten war.

I'm sold on the Warlord "Winter" US figures for Korea.

I'd love to see corresponding Chinese or North Koreans.
