Giant Bug Sculpt
« on: September 21, 2016, 09:27:12 AM »
I recently sculpted a Giant Bug. the wood it's sitting on is about 5cm (2") long by 8cm (~3")
Pretty big sucker. I'm happy with how smooth I managed to get the carapace of it. I reworked the head 3 times. First as a Rhino beetle, but I made the head to tall and wasn't happy with the horn. Then I tried a version like it is now but it was too big. then I chopped the base structure of it down and gave it a smaller head.
My inspiration was from the Devourer in Frostgrave. Not a necesarrily bad creature but not something you want to get riled up.
I'm going to make a mold of it and then make a variant of it with different shell textures to practice my sculpting on.
Right, off to make a mold box while the pictures upload...

Comments and criticisms welcome :)

lol Could be. In fact it would be quite fun to sculpt some little 6mm people scurrying all over the back of it. (Don't get me started with ideas)
Thanks for the comments.
