Rules for multiplayer games?
« on: September 25, 2016, 10:14:05 AM »
Can anyone suggest some WW2 rules for largeish multiplayer games, with say 6-8 players or more but with a 1-1 figure representation? So suitable for 28mm, 20mm or even 15mm with each player commanding at least a platoon and supports and/or a troop of tanks?

They'd need to be fairly simple and fast playing I think, but still with some sort of command and control mechanics that rewards combined arms tactics and I'd still like a good period feel to them. Keeping a 1-1 representation disqualifies Rapid Fire, which might be the first thing that comes to mind. I also feel they lack period flavour.

Most rules for larger games tend to up the figure representation, e.g. Spearhead but I'd like to keep it to 1-1 so that you could perhaps be doing a company attack in 28mm with each player commanding a platoon and even up to a battalion level attack in 15mm with each player commanding a company. Sounds like a tall order now!

Try Big Chain of Command. There is a supplement with allows for multiple platoons on the table at 1:1, with each player commanding a platoon of infantry or a troop of tanks. We have tried it with 4-8 players and it worked fine for us.

I would recommend Rapid Fire Rules. Hope it helps.

Take care
