Barsoomian skyship outfitting
« on: September 26, 2016, 06:27:02 PM »
Hull One is being outfitted with her details and weapons mounts; Hull Two is starting the build on the superstructure - I ran out of beam clamps, and am having to do this project in multiple sessions... :)

Scaled for 28mm; I still have to cut the control vanes from Plexiglass. The ship(s) will be about a meter long and about .60 meter wide when that's done and the vanes installed.

Wow! Just wow!

That's going to be awesome when finished.
What will you be using them for, boarding actions?

Thank you!

I suspect so; these are not the massive dreadnoughts of the air that one usually thinks of, but more smaller patrol ships for the kind of Braunsteins (skirmish games, really) that I like to do. These will be the 'mother ships' for the little one-man scout flyers and 'air-skiff' 'ship's boats' that I have for games; I will probably do a big floor game with these and their boats at some point.

I watched 'John Carter' again Sunday, and boarding actions do seem pretty common; the ships' heavier weapons seem to be mostly used against ground targets and those pesky Tharks. I'm pretty big on swashbuckling in the best Sword and Planet traditions, so these ships will provide plenty of opportunity for that.

I'm just glad to be able to get back into modeling and gaming after a very long drought! :)

At the risk of offense, may I suggest it would be WONDERFUL to see those actions with the several Kites and Aphids showing on the list.

Do you have rules in mind for boarding actions?

By the by, kewl lighting...  ;)

No offense taken here! I'm drooling on the keyboard at the thought!  ;D

No, no rules in mind; I don't know what's available these days. I suppose I'd better look, although what's being done on this board looks very nice.

The lighting are the remounted LED strips on the bottom of the game table's 'vertical extender'; it was developing a sag in the middle, so I added reinforcements and replaced the lights. Colors by Jon Pertwee, who once took some time to explain British music hall lighting to me.

It's what adventurers in my underworlds have to work by... :)
