Warlords: German Winter Grenadier Squad
« on: September 30, 2016, 04:16:37 PM »
Hi all,

I just added pictures from some more WWII German Bolt Action Miniatures onto my website. This is the first Group of a bigger German Heer Winter Army. There is another Grenadier Squad, a HQ Group, a Mortar Team and a Panzer IV to follow. I really enjoyed my further dip into WWII after painting some figures a few months ago and look forward to finish the next lot  ;)

Please follow the below links for more pictures.

German MG42 Team: http://www.sascha-herm.com/Germ-Gren-MG01.htm

A selection of Individual Grenadiers:

Grenadier 2: http://www.sascha-herm.com/Germ-Gren02.htm

Grenadier 3: http://www.sascha-herm.com/Germ-Gren03.htm

There are a few more pictures of the rest of the Squad on my Website, please have a look: www.sascha-herm.com

I hope you like them and any comments are very welcome.

Kind regards

Sascha

Stunning work Sascha.

I must admit, I'm not a great fan of the figures - a bit too cartoon-like for my tastes. But your painting is sumptuous as usual.  The frostbitten PAK40 is my favourite I think.

Interesting that your take on feldgrau is actually quite green. It looks very good  :)

What colour paint are you using as a base for that?
(I'd guess VMC Russian Uniform Green, but it has a bit more of a yellowish tint...  ::))

You are right with the look of the figures but once you get over that they are actually not half bad  ;)  lol

I used Reaper's Military Green Triad for the Greatcoats. I am not sure why I went with a darker green look though....  :? I saw a few reference pictures online which I interpreted as dark green and decided to go with that particular triad. I also try to use triads for the most parts of my painting these days as it is a lot less time consuming and it is easier to correct mistakes, accidents and damages at a later stage. ;)

Well I hope that makes some sense  :)

beautifull painting job ...

why don't you give this frozen look to the greatcoats of the grenadiers ?

i have done some try with Precision Ice and snow wash , it's stunning on the shoes, lower pârt of the pants and greatcoats ...
Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.

The sculpting of the clothing is actually really good.
It's just the hats that don't look right to me. And the weapons always look a bit too big.

Thanks for the paint info. I've never done triads... Probably I should. It would probably save me an awful lot of time  lol

Thank you for your comments  :)

Very nice :-*

How did you do the snow?

For the Snow I used a Mix of PVA Glue, AP Battlefields Snow and Andrea Artificial Snow Powder in a overall Ratio of 3:2:1. I applied the mix with a small brush in a couple of layers but also sprinkled some dry AP Snow on top of the mix to represent fresher Snow.
