[commercial] Slave 2 Gaming & Nordic Weasel Collaboration
« on: September 27, 2016, 04:04:25 PM »
Gday Guys,

This is the latest announcement from S2G, for those who are interested, we might be looking for playtesters.

This is the post that went up on TMP:

Today I’d like to announce that Ivan Sorenson, the game designer & author of such great games as FiveCore & Starport Scum, and owner of Nordic Weasel Games, has agreed to work in conjunction with us here at Slave 2 Gaming to reproduce the game “Trench Storm” from the 90’s.

Slave 2 Gaming has bought the rights to the 2nd edition version of Trench Storm, and in conjunction with Ivan, we will be re-releasing it as Trench Storm Revisited, a company scale game set in an alternate World War One setting.

This game will support the 18mm Dark World War range of figures, designed by Mike Broadbent and sold through Slave 2 Gaming. It will be available through the Wargames Vault in the coming months in both PDF and hard copy form.

This game is a D6 based game of 4 or more stands per unit, with 3 units per company. Companies can be supported by Heavy Weapons, Cavalry and it even includes the use of Tanks, Artillery and Air Support. Currently the game has been set up to use the two Dark World War armies from Slave 2 Gaming, the British and the Prussians, these can be found here on the slave to gaming website: http://slave2gaming.com/index.php

Players will be able to choose with these new rules to either play scenario based games, create their own army lists, or use the pre designed force lists in the rulebook.

For more information on all things Nordic Weasel, check out the great selection of games here: http://www.wargamevault.com/browse.php?manufacturers_id=5701

Interesting, what do you mean by "alternate World War One setting"

I'm currently using GWSH for divisional level games, but it actually looks like the forces for that will also largely work at this level.

The Dark World war range that Mike Broadbent created was designed as an 18mm World War One range, set in an alternate universe where the war changed course at the battle of Messines.

Now 5 years into the future, the rest of the world descends into war as unique creatures & monsters begin to roam the earth.

Basically, a World with lots of war and lots of nasty things to hurt you!

Would the rules work for straight WWI?

I like my fantasy gaming, but prefer Orcs and Elves. I've had a quick look at the figures, and apart from some big guns the British and Prussians seem fairly normal

Yep, the rules were originally written as traditional set of WWI rules and will happily fall back into the Company scale WWI set of rules. The rules have 3 different options of working out your armies and will be quite open to playing how you like, the first option of playing being scenario based games (games without a points level), the second being a create your own army points generation system, and thirdly the use of pre made armies.

At the moment our range looks pretty much like a standard WWI setting as well, but we have quite a large amount of new unique & non-traditional products coming out for both of the current armies.

We do plan to look at other alternate armies of things such as Monsters, Demons and even the undead.

Hopefully as the player base takes off we can create a very unique alternate world.
