You're right, it does have a wonderful Barsoom look about it. I can see it being a feature on the table in a Mars game, or for Space:1889.

How about a lighthouse model to start from: https://www.google.de/search?q=lighthouse+model&safe=active&biw=1280&bih=929&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiV7rq4kbTPAhWLaRQKHQEZDVMQ_AUIBigB

I've been looking at really big lighthouse decorations for skyship docking stations; that is a perfect use for those that don't QUITE measure up.  ;)

Ooh that does sound good. I live near a very large broadcast tower and I always imagine it with airships docked to it. ::)

As for radio towers, they'd be good for docking, but a lighthouse looks like it might have transfer facilities inside.

I saw, in a thrift store (charity resale) a resin(?) decorative lighthouse that must have been near a meter tall; would have looked proper with my large ships, but was gone before I could get back with the cash.  :'(

I do see similar a quarter to half as large, regularly, and would be perfect for these windtowers.

You see quite large wooden ones in craft stores, or in gift shops on the coast

These might have some use ,there on eBay and are around £15 including p&p.Standing roughly 60cm tall.
Personally I'd use them as a kit bashing starting point. The Eiffel Tower would make both a docking station and a radio mast without looking like the Eiffel Tower .

Mine might have been wooden, as I didn't get a close look. It was a) bigger than most I've seen, b) less ramshackle/'rustic' than most wooden ones I've seen in US stores, c) the price...  :'(

Appears to work better in small scale, maybe 15mm(?), than what I had in mind, but could do well enough converted by the right hands, and is SMASHING already!
