The Tom Cruise movie 'Edge of Tomorrow' is based on a manga called 'All You Need Is Kill' where some soldiers caught in a one day time loop keep trying to defeat the alien invaders who go back in time and change their plans any time they lose. Someone infused with alien blood becomes of aware of the recursion and recalls the prior failures enough to learn from them and each day he learns more of what he needs to know to change the fortunes of mankind in the space of one day.

Anyway it's a  cool movie and the manga it is based on it neat too.

MOM Miniatures is doing a preorder for their take on the manga version. You have a squad of five troopers and a legendary war heroine similar to the lady in the manga who the hero must EACH DAY convince to listen to a feckless REMF jerk who sounds like a madman. Every day he has to recruit her, fight with her, until they die and start all over again learning from the last failed iteration. Anyway the figures look cool.

5 man squad is 7,50 €
Heroine is 4,00 €

Preorder ships sometime after MArch 4.

I bought two squads and got the sword lady for free.

I'll post pics when they arrive I guess sometime next month.

Some nice sculpts. Yeah - it is a good movie.

Neat.

How do they scale to other miniatures?

I have read the translated novel (which explains the mechanism very cleverly).

  • Pedantic bugger, apparently.
Is she hits someone with that big cricket bat, does it cause Blunt Trauma?

I thought the improvised exoskeleton melee weapon made out of a helicopter rotor blade sword thing was Pretty Sweet.

Though I am not certain a rotor blade would actually stand up to use as such. Still tho. Sweet.

They are heroic 28mm-ish (meaning 32mm +) but I haven't seen them in person or had any chance to compare them to other minis. The MOM site describes them as 40mm so they'd be largish

Loved the movie, esp seeing Tom Cruise die again and again and again and... But those sculpts - while nice - don't have the same exo suit vibe I saw in the film. They more resemble standard power armor *not space marines*.

I'd pick up "heroic 28mm" exo-suit troopers in a heartbeat.

I have to agree, if they had the more manga stylings and fittings of the original I would consider them as well, but alas they have chosen a rather bland dime a dozen middle ground.
