Congo expansion plans?
« on: October 04, 2016, 11:16:44 AM »
I hear rumours that ST will be supporting Congo with more adventures and possibly an expansion. Does anyone have definite news on what is in the pipeline?  Like most wargamers, I want everything yesterday, but it is also nice to have something to look forward to!

Lots of views but no comments.  Assuming i haven't just dreamed this up, it sounds as if no-one knows.

But is there anyone from Studio Tomahawk who can tell us what the plan is?

You could ask them on their board http://studio-tomahawk.forumgratuit.org/

Most in french but there is a English part where you could talk.

Sir Rodney,
All God's Speed as you gird your loins and embark into the darkest unknown of Studio Tomahawk (sounds forbidding, doesn't it?) to discover what might await in the Future of Congo. As a member of the Explorer's Society (a fancy way of just saying I bought the rules!), I await the news of the research with the deepest of interest.

Gentlemen of the Explorers' Guild,
It's now been almost 2 months since we started this thread on possible new scenarios, or campaigns and expansions for Congo - either official or home-brewed.
Does anyone have any updates or anything they have developed that can be shared? I think that missions for extra players would be particularly welcome for those in small clubs.
Keep safe in the jungle....

I will be looking forward to the expansions especially the campaign rules and multi-player games.  Hope the wait won't be a long one.

Hopefully the game is successful enough to warrant this. I know the first run sold-out at a number of American online retailers, but I have not really seen anyone playing locally at all, even amongst the Saga players, whom I would imagine to be the most likely adopters.  My feeling is that the whole darkest Africa genre has always had more of a following in the U.K. than in the US, probably because America wasn't really involved in the scramble for Africa.  (Although maybe it's just my local area.) Fingers crossed that all goes well as I really enjoy the premise, figures, and artwork--even though I don't have much prospect for actually playing as of now.

Good evening. Do not worry, we are working on new adventures and on the campaign. It takes time ... so a little patience.

Very glad to learn that "official" new scenarios and campaigns are in the works. I would rather wait a bit longer and get a well-tested and satisfying group of games. I have only played 3 different missions from the original game but was pleased at what a good and balanced game they offered.
Keep it up!

Fred - that is great news!  Can you tell us just a little bit more about what you have in mind for the campaign please?  Will it be a series of linked scenarios or less structured than that?

I live in hope of a campaign which would include some freedom of movement, an element of exploration/discovery, and generate random encounters as a column moves between set piece scenarios.  Any chance the campaign will evolve in to something on those lines?
