Ainsty castings: questions, answered, resolved!
« on: October 09, 2016, 03:36:14 AM »
Does Ainsty generally respond to enquiries on weekends or are they are a weekdays 9-5 operation? I sent an email this morning (long story, yada yada) and have no response.

I know they have an excellent reputation, but communication is always nice.

Any assistance appreciated

Possibly out at a show? It's how many UK wargames businesses spend a lot of their weekends  :)

Ainsty go to many of the shows. Dags helps run the Ainsty trade stand, so he'd be able to say for sure.

It's the SELWG show weekend. Today, Ainsty will be trading there. Yesterday, they'd have been packing up & travelling down to London.

Communication is nice, but I wouldn't expect a same or next day answer from a hobby company on any weekend.

Honestly? A lot of game companies or manufacturers reply very, very slow. Sometimes you will never receive a reply and sometimes you receive replacement parts/models without a reply. It still baffles me as people are running a business. In a time of mobile phones, tablets and good internet in most countries it surprises me.

Hi, only just seen this.

Yes, we were down at SELWG last weekend.

Andy doesn't have wifi or a decent phone signal in the workshop so emails can only be dealt with when he's at home.

PM me and I'll see if I can get the issue sorted

Just spoken to Andy - he's had no email at all since the weekend until late last night - server issue.

He wasn't ignoring your's, he just never received them.

Try again now and he should be able to get back to you tonight when he's home.

My exwife lives a mile and a half up the road. Sometimes I don't get a reply to my text at all. Sometimes I don't reply to her texts on purpose.

Only fair, and good point.

Interestingly, I found when I was in the UK recently that cell service was appalling, but walking from Juno Beaches to Falaise, France, I never once had an issue. Why is that? How are the French so damn good at cell service, and the British, presumably an easier place to have service, so horrible? It was intriguing.

I suspect that if you went into more rural areas of France you'd struggle as well.

As Jim says, it's all about provider. I am with O2 and have never had an issue with signal anywhere I have been in the UK.

Anyway, I would just suggest that if you contact any company within the wargames industry at a weekend, at least wait until close of play Monday before getting a little fidgety. My tolerance levels are set to about one week of five working days (Mon-Fri). That's based on the fact that the majority of companies other than the giants like GW. Tend to be run by one person - if they are lucky, they might have a bit of help for certain aspects of their company such as help at shows, but few have even that luxury.
