The Trojan war in miniature?
« on: October 09, 2016, 07:16:31 PM »
Years and years ago I used to check out a website called something like the Trojan war in miniature. The chap used to set up little scenes from the Trojan war and then take pictures of them. I remember the buildings had beautiful wall paintings in them. Due to my renewed interest in all things Bronze I have been looking for it again. Can anybody else remember it and give me a clue??

I did however find this guys site.

Whatever you think of the painting I salute the breadth and depth of his collection.

There is this site http://www.lloydianaspects.co.uk/photography/troyphoto/lukka2.html

I cant find the original site, but he used a lot of redoubt miniatures in the photos, so you can often find them on other sites by googling redoubt trojan, if they are the pics I think you mean.

Just thought I'd add that if you are interested in bronze age stuff, Eureka miniatures are releasing dark age greeks which look great. I picked up Odyseus and Telemachus to add to my Mycenean force.

Yep, the painting on that chap's site won't win any prizes, but he serpently gets figures onto the field... wot's that saying about quality and quantity?

Ahh yes I did clock them as being maybe two Nobles. I have thought about basing them individually for Bronze age Mordheim (Bronzheim?) Rather than my usual DBA stylee.

I for one am in love with the new trojan wars figs. (It has been about a 10 year wait to finish my 100% eureka trojan wars army but better late than never)

I am still churning away at the Foundry figures maybe 18 years after they came out. The first figures I painted are horrendous.

Hey, I recognise that website! That's Lindybeige. He has a really great youtube channel, lots about ancient and medieval arms and armour, WW2 stuff, interesting takes and rethinks of various aspects of historical warfare, random musings, general history stuff, picking apart Hollywood's depiction of the ancient and medieval world... and swing dancing.

This video he about the Illiad is fantastic and quite moving. Check it out.

Disclaimer: I do not work for Lindybeige.
