A little homage to Jack "King" Kirby
« on: October 11, 2016, 12:01:32 AM »
A lot of Kirby's fans would cite his superhero work as his most important, usually either early Marvel stuff or his DC New Gods books.  Me, I'm on a different page.  It was the oddball books where his creativity shines through most in my opinion.  Captain Victory, Devil Dinosaur, the crazy Jimmy Olsen run, and the bizarre 2001 series?  All great stuff, but the title that really earns him the crown in my book?  Kamandi.  Always Kamandi.  And here's my minis homage to the book, the Eater, a conversion inspired by the storyline in issues 17 & 18.

Big, boldly-colored, and with a memorable set of teeth.  Hopefully it lives up to the original cover art.

That's awesome! Such a great and often forgotten bit of Post-Apocalyptica! :D

In case anyone wants to plan projects that far ahead, 28 August 2017 will be the 100th anniversary of Jack Kirby's birth.
Back from the dead, almost.

Thanks all, glad you liked it.  Wasn't quite sure whether to post this on the Supers board or Post-Apoc, but Kamandi's origins pushed it over here.  Now if it was a Thundarr critter, that would have been P-A.

Next August, eh?  Have to think about a big Centennial project.  Good excuse to re-read some stuff for research and inspiration, if nothing else.
