Hurricane Matthew destruction of gaming stuff
« on: October 14, 2016, 05:55:59 PM »
As someone who lives on a river near Fayetteville, NC and got to see first hand what Matty did, I want to ask:

Any US East Coast LAF members have any major issues/lose their gaming stuff due to the hurricane?   We had a close call with flooding, but came out mostly unscathed.

If anyone did get hammered badly, I may be able to donate some gaming 'stuff' to help ease your pain.   I have some stuff I was going to be selling before an upcoming move that I would gladly pass on to someone in need.

PM me if interested.

Sunday morning.  Water came up a few more feet.   Daughter is in a life jacket as we are about to kayak out to see if we can herd in the landlord's small herd of Texas Longhorns which are stranded in pretty deep water.

You can kind of make out the poor cows behind the pine trees.

After the river receded a bit by Monday afternoon so you can see what the area is supposed to look like.

Good idea, and I'll chip in too if anyone got wiped out.  I'm here in Charleston and while we took a decent pasting (Cat 1 Hurricane) we too escaped any major damage.  I actually moved all of my important hobby stuff from the garage into the main house (storm shutters).  While everything else I own is just stuff that can be replaced...there's not much you can do if you lose models/miniatures you've spent hundreds of hours paintstakingly painting/assembling/etc.

Even if you took out insurance on your gaming stuff, the money you'd receive wouldn't replace the time/effort.  I had a bunch of old trees overlooking the hobby room, so I was waiting for one to fall and crush it.  :-I

Overall, made it out okay.
