Just arrived: The Weyland Yutani "Bug Flattener" - with acid-resistant steel rolls...

This 3D-printed resin model in 1/48th scale is not designed to an actual prototype, but resembles the rollers made by BOMAG during the second half of the past century. The model was constructed and prinbted by a nice bloke from Berlin who makes model railway supplements for his own use.

Another resurrection of an old thred is due - after many miniatures were painted and many games were played, I decided to start
BUILDING BETTER WORLDS
to have even more Aliens vibes on the table.

Therefore I started a search for Bug Hunt Corridors by Fantasy Arc which were released in 2014, but never made it really beyond Kickstarter. However I got a second hand pledge in the past that was very nice, but far too less to play with properly. This August I asked for more on the WANTED board of the Bazaar of Obscurities here on LAF, which actually was answered and I managed a pick-up in England during my summer holidays. That lucky find also demanded the only proper name for the colony: SERENDIPITY. Now that I'm back, I just couldn't wait to some first assemblies done and test my painting on them.

Here are the first results:

This is the first finished section, completely assembled and painted:

The way I wanted the corridors had always been clear to me - just like Hadley's Hope in the Aliens movie in grey, red walls with yellow/black striped railings. The floor gratings should have been rusty in my imagination and I went with that. I was undecided about the walls of the rooms though. I wanted disturbing and ugly industrial colors of some sort like. That kind of look you feel uncomfortable with, but oddly found everywhere in industrial buildings, workshops and strorage rooms or even naval vessels. Not necessarily something sci-fi, but nothing cosy and welcoming at least. What do you think?

I think you've done a great job on color selection. The blue/grey is probably the only expected color there but that still works for the ugly industrial aesthetic.
