Indian Raids at Advance the Colors
« on: October 18, 2016, 02:23:18 AM »

French & Indian War fun for the entire family!

Hi everyone,

It has taken me a couple weeks to get a chance to post some photos on my blog from our games of Song of Drums and Tomahawks at Advance the Colors game convention, two weekends ago in Springfield, OH. I ran my Raid on the Ohio Frontier on Friday night and Saturday morning, and then my colleague Mike Stelzer ran a sampling of earlier period games in the afternoon and evening of Saturday.

Check out lots more photos on my Lead Legionaries blog:

Frontiersmen take cover as the Indians raid a settlement

Enjoy!

Mike runs a great game. Thanks Mike, I had a lot of fun losing my hair. ATC is a great regional con. Next year y'all fellers come too, y'hear?
You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

Great terrain Mike.

Small but very dense and full of scenics.

Great inspiration for me.

cheers

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

This was the first time I've run the event where the overwhelming majority of players who signed up had already played the rules at least once before. I guess I'll call that a success on the introduction of the rules to the Midwest -- or at least Ohio area...!

I followed up two weeks later with a trip to West Virginia at a local convention there, but there were very few minis players in attendance. All three events went off, but with reduced players. Even the flickering lights of the "burning" log cabin couldn't tempt the LARPers and roleplayers to fill up the slots of my game. Oh, well...you can't win all the battles...!

Sounds like their loss, sir, as that table looks a joy to play on.

Looks very good
Only the enemies figures are in the front of you now a good time to get some good dice throws

Charlotte's loss Mike, for sure. I've attended Charcon a couple of times. It's a general gaming con with many LARPers and card players, even some sci-fi minis (WAAAARG!), but mighty thin for historical miniatures games. Dunno if I'll ever go back, it's a long drive. Good on you for trying.
