Absorb Knowledge

Hi,

JP & I have had a game (and a re midway through another)...but have a query, if you have the spell Absorb Knowledge, does this mean you can learn a spell from a written document such as a Grimoire or even scroll, and without reading it, they remain intact ?

Or does it simply confer 50 XP ?

I must admit I read this as learning a spell without having to use one of your upgrade allowances ...
i.e you gain 200xp, 2 levels, you reaise 2 attributes , but with a sucessfull roll of absorb knowledge you can learn an extra spell from a grimois you have ?

Nope, just 50xp. It doesn't even say "grimoire" or "scroll", it just says "written work" so the experience could be from learning from a book of maps or herbs or...
You don't even need to have a grimoire or scroll when you cast the spell.

The Wizard is essentially just studying between games in order to gain additional knowledge/XP.
