Wow!  :o

Is this an amazing coincidence or have I seen yours before Keith?  I assume Paul is referencing White Dwarf, which I've never read, but could I have seen it on LAF or elsewhere? Is it recent?

Am impressed!  8)

Not at all recent, mate.
That edition of White Dwarf must be about 15 years ago*, before I embarked on my own IG army.
Classy army it was and may well have been posted online in various places but I have not seen it anywhere, I just remember the piccies in the rag.

Maybe just a case of 'Great Minds Syndrome'.
 ;)

*I have not done more than flick through other peoples copies of the mag for almost that long myself.

Mark - I had to google Blue Thunder! The cockpit/glass structure is very similar to what I've put together.  8)

Paul - Thanks for that; so in effect it was pre-internet .... I've googled a lot of LS conversions and I don't recall it showing up. I think it also predates release of the Storm. Most conversions add only a few cms so a really elongated version like Keith's, especially from the shorter LS, is a standout.

 lol

Regarding Traveller, the notes that accompany the deck plan include

Quote
Crew: Bridge=2, Engineering=2, Gunners=2, Troops=28, Medical=1

..... a streamlined, jumpĀcapable assault troop carrier (designated ACTL) with a capacity of one platoon of Marines, their vehicles and their equipment. Hitherto the smallest unit carried in one ship had been a company, but experience had shown that in certain typess of smallĀscale police action, counterinsurgency and especially commando missions, delivery of platoons rather than companies on target was sufficient......

Which pretty much sums up the role for my project (though I'm sticking with 3 Speeders rather than increasing to 4)

Cheers! Great shots in the gallery: the heavy gun is awesome  :-*

I don't recall seeing the Manticore conversion on here before but it's possible so it might have tickled my subconscious - it definitely comes up on google image searches as I saw it last week but just looking at the images I didn't realise they were by you or were hosted at LAF. It never occurred to me to search for 40k stuff here! lol So I can safely say that it was an influence for my enclosed cockpit: thank you very much!  :D

 :)

So fighting the urge to be distracted into building the carrier ship, I've finished the assembly of the first Speeder and (pretty much) the crew/passengers with the next steps to be tidying up plus GS finessing (though a few of the troops still need visors and slings).

The Speeder:

I've modded what will count as a forward-firing 0.50 cal HMG to the front.

Preparing to board:

In the cockpit will be the pilot plus Lt (who can dismount with the troops or command from above). The passenger deck carries 2 x 4-person fire teams and two specialists (which include comms, medic, sniper and launcher). To complete the platoon there will be a second Speeder, commanded by a Sergeant with 2 more fire teams and the 2 remaining specialists.

The full platoon will therefore comprise 24 men (including 2 pilots) split into 4 fire teams with command and specialist support, all carried in 2 Speeders.

Mounted and in flight:

An inaugral, celebratory barrel roll:
