Cost are interesting but relative compared to other Tabletop periods. Skirmish is different of course but only if you can keep megalomania at bay and stick to warband sizes

We've been setting up Battlegroup sized units and they roll in at around 470gbp for 2 platoons, HQ, Weapons Sections, MBT platoon, APC Platoon, HQ and support vehicles, so around 80 troops and 12 vehicles.  Double that for two sides and I still think 2 platoons is on the top side of what you can deploy and use, a reinforced platoon being about right for a standard table size. Starting up in Napoleonics and getting two sides up at say 8-10 battalions each, 2 cav and artillery would set you back easily the same and probably more but with a much bigger painting problem :)

The gem is you can start at platoon level (and it may be you decide that's all you ever need)  then build to a company as and when you decide. Like Queeg above the max I tend to field in one side is 2 platoons plus APC's/Armour and that's on a 9x6 table.

What I love is a) the huge tactical challenges involved in modern combat plus b) I can build platoons for different armies to get more variety. Currently experimenting with Chinese and USMC.

My "core" gaming period is ECW and Colonial. Moderns provides a very different game. A nice "break".

6mm is almost certainly more accurate, it just doesn't float my boat the way 28mm does. And those Empress figures are just too tempting!! (And I can resist anything except temptation).

As stated the TAG range was designed for the early Chechen wars the regular Infantry wear the standard infantry helmet seen during the Afghanistan wars, but not the latter one worn by the parss in the 1990s....as mentioned before the kit arrangement is for the 1990s

I just love Big armys since I was a young kid. I collect this modern figures in 28 mm range .
I ask kind like with the intention to know if some of you already can have let's say: a small modern American army.

I am starting to like the idea of modelling the entire Luxembourg Army. You could name each piece after a real person.
