More GB Plastic Late Romans
« on: October 30, 2016, 05:20:27 PM »
I've tried out a slightly different paint scheme for them today and inspired by my recent trip to Hadrian's Wall I wanted them to have Renedra's lovely new bases.
Problem were the rather thick integrated bases..cutting them off made the figures appear really small-ish so I decided to carve them into flagstones and hope they blend in enough to 'disappear'.

What do you think?

Cheers

Looks okay to me.

I myself cut off the bases, be they plastic or lead, and glue the figures on a washer to paint. After painting I stick them on their scenic base.

Looks good. From the picture I wouldn't have noticed if you would not have mentioned it.
Your painting style helps, too.

Excellent work - they look very good.   Great paint scheme and I love the bases.   Gives me ideas for bases of troops on the walls of fortified camps.

Thanks

Hi SP,

Lovely painting!   I'm thinking about trying some of these- how do they compare with the Gripping Beast metals for size?  Are the shields similar to the smaller GB shield size, or the larger?

Cheers, Simon

I think they are very slightly smaller than the smaller of the 2 shield sizes on the metal legionaries, but pretty close. I would check with GB if the transfers for those shields would fit, they might, because the plastic rims are a bit thinner than the metal.
