Thanks for the reply. Since posting I found a reference in one of my books to a red feather for rank and file. A red and white feather for officers. A black feather for light infantry.

That sounds about right, but I couldn't find to solid reference to offer up.

There is a useful conversation in the first part of this thread
http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=302131

It still leaves me confused (not hard by any means) but the thing I did pick up was that Light Infantry had black feathers before 1780 and green thereafter.

I'm thinking of using the Perry figures pictured below as Guard Light Company in close order, if I'm making a big mistake then could someone let me know, I'd appreciate it :)

Also my force will be based around the later part of the war in the Southern Campaign.

Thanks for the link though it has left me a bit confused as well. I have read other TMP discussions on AWI uniforms which are usually inconclusive. Don't get me started on Lee's Legion cavalry!  lol When in doubt I generally go with what looks the best  lol

Therefore those Perry figures should be fine I would have thought. There is just the matter of the flank company shoulder wings. I don't know if roundabouts had them but your thread suggest they can be painted on anyway as they weren't as proud as in later periods.

Well talk about falling at the first hurdle, real life took over and presented me with very little time for the brushes but as things start to settle down and all the piddling crap gets dealt with I've at last managed to return to my AWI stuff.
I changed the basing and got two more "big men" done along with 12 more rank and file taking the force up to 19 figures in total.
My Taffys will be led by the mounted Officer with the RWF sergeant acting as liaison with a small skirmish unit (which are being painted next) of light infantry.
The Officer waving his hat is going to command the Guard light infantry unit (another 16 figures) but that's a little further down the painting queue.

Me too lol lol

Great work Jeff as we have come to expect. I was only mentioning to one of your fellow countrymen (whoom we know also frequents this forum) that your recent absence has been noted ;)

Thanks for the comments chaps, it's been nice to have something to post again and to get my "brush" waving about lol.

Hand painted attempt at stencilled Regimental badges, three feathers and a scroll and if you look close enough you will be able to see the motto "Ich dien" on the scroll  ;) lol
