I love 1950s Science Fiction movies (the good, the bad & the just plain awful) and have long wanted to do some skirmish wargaming in such a setting. My concept is that an alien race who are relatively few in number (think Invaders from Mars) use subject races, mutations of earth species and bug-eyed monsters to invade earth. Aligned against them would be scientists, the US armed forces (good excuse to use my WW2 US Infantry) and aliens who just want to help (I might be throwing a bit of Falling Skies into the mix here  :D).

Anyway, this is the alien boss, based on the Cyclops from Atomic Submarine and made from a toy octopus & a few other bits plus Milliput & green stuff:

I'm not much of a puttypusher but I'm still happy with how it turned out.

More pics to follow.

I'd suggest looking into Hydra Miniatures and Counterblast, both have the aesthetic your looking for.

Irregular Miniatures also have some great 1950s Martian type aliens.
The figure is excellent!

Cute little bugger. The eye sets it all off nicely.

Cheers all. Wish I could find a decent still from the film to post. Wikipedia suggests that the Cyclops could have been the inspiration for the Simpsons Halloween aliens.

That's a great alien! If 50's Sci-Fi is your thing these might be of some use:

'Real' aliens taken from 1940s/50's alleged encounters:

1950s/60s U.S. troops:

Coming soon. Rules are currently being play tested.
