The side with a BEAR always wins, right?  :D

I have reported the Swiss player, David , to the RSPCA.  The lists used were as follows  -           Swiss Canton : 1 x Mtd Yeomen unit , 1 Foot M @ Arms , 2 x Ft Sgts , 1 x Crossbow and a Bidower unit which included the bear for variety.    The Later English / W o t Roses list :           1 x Mtd M @ Arms , 1 x Ft M @ Arms , and 2x Expert Archer units who hit on a +4 . The latter list represents a veteran, hard hitting force, albeit brittle as one unit lost comprises a quarter of the force . The Leader characteristics , diced for , were No 9 Braveheart for the Swiss and No 7 Commanding ( reroll one failed move / attack / shoot ) , which proved extremely useful for the English archer units .

Yes, I greatly enjoyed the game also. This was the first time I managed to get my fully painted Swiss Retinue on to the table. As ever with Lion Rampant, it provided a fast paced, light hearted and highly thematic game. I look forward to more in the future. My force was created by mixing and converting Perry miniatures' European Infantry, Foot Knights, Light Cavalry, as well as some of the metal range.

Yes, we were saying after the game that the author Dan Mersey had got the balance right in these rules, simple and intuitive, leaving plenty of scope for tactical manoeuvre during the game. It's been a long held ambition of mine to use these rules , and his Dark Age supplement, to fight an Arthurian campaign based on Bernard Cornwall's trilogy.

Yes Nils, those are the mods I will use, they can also be downloaded from Dan Mersey's site.

In the Lion Rampant rules the Late English list has 1 Foot M@arms, was it swapped out for the mounted?  I've enjoyed using the Late English list.

And where was the Swiss Canton list found or was it something of one's own creation?

Yes, GP , you,re right about the English list. There are two Foot M@ Arms in the list. I swapped one for Mtd , same cost , with the agreement of David . Dan Mersey encourages us to experiment, and we like to play these games in a " fun " atmosphere. Here's a pic of the Swiss.  P.S. I think David made the Swiss list , not sure where he got it from .

I agree, experimentation is good!  It is also good that these rules allow players to adapt their lists to their preferences and available figures, too.

I like the picture of the Swiss!

We had,nt played these rules for a while and I was glad to find , when I pulled the folder , that I,d kept 21 x lists ready for use . I note that on the bottom of the Later English / W.o.t.Roses basic retinue I,ve added  the option to change the 2 x Experienced Archers ( 12 pts ) for 3 x Normal Archers ( 12 pts) .
