Company B BTR-40
« on: November 04, 2016, 05:06:10 PM »
Hello gals 'n guys, i got a bit lucky so i am thinking about buying the BTR-40 from Company B to use in my Vietnam Ho Chi Min trail rpg. But where do you get a suitable crew and armament? They have a fair range of both but nothing that suits my preference. That is ..... NVA and and some heavy machinegun from the Cold War period that was used in those parts of this world. So who has any hands-on experience with the BTR-40 and who can give some advice for crew and gun(s). All help is, as always, much appreciated. Cheers. L1963

Armament varied. Originally it was the SG-43. Warlord make one as does FNG (ex Red Star) in their Inochina range. The Red Star version would be my pick. The Vietnamese armed many of theirs with the DshKM. Any number of manufacturers make them. The best one on the market IMO is the Eureka version.

Then of course there's the BTR-40A, with the twin 14.5mm AAMG. Company B make that for their BTR-40 and BTR-152 models.

Crew is always tricky. If you go the Eureka 12.7mm, then the ZANLA crewman could be used with a head swap.

Drivers, any suitable figure will require a head swap. IIRC Company B do a number of crew figures in their WW2 ranges.

Indeed. Thanks carlos marighela, your input was most helpfull. I decided to go with the Eurreka DshKM for armament and do my first ever headswop ;-). Still have to decide what crew to use and these will have a headswop too. ;-)

I'm following this and very interested. Please don't feel neglected!  :D

Quite tempted to pick up the Co.B BTR-40 for another project I have going.
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

No, no - people are listening. Waiting for photos. Hell - I started painting some miniatures this week for a project I bought massively for in December 2008 (and I am sure that's nothing compared to many people here). Keep the momentum going, firsts in something (even a head swap) will give you some pleasant satisfaction.

Indeed. Thanks for the response gents. Just today my package from Eureka arrived. What joy! Just high quality all around. Although the postage is almost a killer. Photos will be posted here soon. My order from Company B is on it's way thanks to effort of Michael from Company B to make it got under way just before a federal holiday. Excellent service i must say. When those are in photos of the goodies will be shown here of course. ;-)
