After a day to think about it, I am even more disappointed today. A great opportunity lost. I could explain why I don't like it in more detail, but I'll wait until more folks have seen it.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Loved the design, love the chap playing Aramarki - despised pretty much everything else unfortunately much to the great annoyance of my wife who thought it was okay

Beat Takeshi definitely was the best part, and I loved the fact that he was speaking Japanese while everybody else talked back in English.

but I have to agree that everything else wasn't great, my expectations were low going in so I wasn't too disappointed but the Anime, both the movies and the series are leagues ahead of this, and I'd recommend anyone that is interested to go watch those instead, especially Innocence is a stand out Film

Saw it last weekend and I loved it. Not sure what people are so annoyed at. Not sure I care either. I've seen far worse in my tIme.

It's just not the film it should have been. They took everything important out of the story and just made it about Kusenagi's poor little lost childhood. And the Hacker, they reduced his character and made him a crippled little pathetic only motivated by revenge. So two-dimensional and disappointing. And it was not explained, with her doctor dead who repaired her body in the end? In the cartoon her body was beyond repair and Bateu obtained the Kusenagi/Hacker entity with a different black market body.

I liked it a lot, especially visually. The cyberpunk aesthetic was presented very well. I didn't expect the complexity and thoughtfulness of the original to carry over to a Hollywood version, so no big disappointment here.

I've seen the anime and would not expect to get the same experience as watching the new film.

I will probably go and see it, just for the tech and the ambience. The story isn't hugely important to me.

For those who have seen the film, are there Tachikomas in it?

No, just the spider tank.

Saw it yesterday and loved it. First 2/3 were the strongest part and DAAAAAAMN I loved the visuals. Spot on! Can't wait for the sequals :-*

No, just the spider tank.

That's a shame :( ... I'd have love to have seen Tachikomas in the film... but I guess the spider tank is a start.

A sequel doesn't seem to be likely since the movie is underperforming at the box office  :?

I enjoyed it.  If it isn't like your favorite version of the comic or cartoon, that's okay.  I think the movie was better than the latest cartoon reboot, but not as good as SAC.  This is like the fifth version of the characters and setting.  I would be happy to see a sequel.
