Anyone knows what happened to the 28mm Vietnam ranges from ebob (Recon28) and Force of Arms?

Nothing, Ebob never released this range. I think it is the great Tinsoldiers-swindle.... :o

Not true at all. The range is due to be released in time for the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon...or some time thereafter.

Indeed. These ebob 'Nam-miniatures look very nice and also the pictures of the FOA range, that were posted here, looked promising. Especially the sappers. Warlord purchased some models from FOA i understand but i found this on the Warlord website; "John Bruce, owner of Force of Arms says FOA will now be specialising in the period 1946 – to the end of the Cold War, and expects to bring some interesting models to the market in the near future”. So come John, bring on those sappers!-)

There is a uk webshop (can never remember the name), who used to have a lot of FoA, but they have all been sold out. But then i have learned never to think twice before ordering minis:)

It was the Wargames Command Post.  They're all out of stock though.

Thanks all for the response! If these will not be available, what are the best available options for Vietnam in 28mm?

Probably TAG. I have a few of their miniatures from this range. Some of the weapons aren't great sculpts and the M60 is massively oversize but on the whole they are decent enough models.

I bought the westwind-stuff 15 to 20 years ago. They are ok, not the best. The TAG-Stuff is very nice, but a lot of people say they look all the same. For the Vietcong you can also use the FNG (former Read Star)-Stuff sold by Empress. They are fantastic, best work of Paul Hicks in my eyes.

Indeed. I bought quite a fair number of the TAG miniatures from their 'In country' range. All of the Special Forces and most of the NVA and some vietcong. Perhaps not the best, they are somewhat bulky as they are in the 28mm heroic style but they do the trick for me. From Westwind i bought the Montagnards and these are realy disappointing. From the twenty or miniatures in that batch there were only a handfull well enough to paint them. The poses are a bit weird and they look like they just stepped out of Apocalyps. Now! Severed heads and all. ;-)
