A great game and nice to see the Vendel figures in use.  :D

Most of my Dwarf army are Vendel as well, lovely miniatures. I've really got to get some more Middle Earth games with Dragon Rampant. Plus The Pikeman's lament and The Men who Would Be Kings...too many rules, too little gaming time!

I didn't post any pics of the Dwarf flags that were in the last battle I linked above.

this one inspired by the doors to Moria in Fellowship of the Ring:

another inspired by the Cantonal banner of Berne plus Celtic influences:

and a dragon:

and some in battle shots to share here, in case you don't want to read the short story battle AAR:

Loved the battle report, I liked your writing style especially, you did well to capture something of the epic language of Tolkien there. I wish my dice turned out so cinematically.
No battle plan ever survives first contact with the dice.

You're too kind.
If I can write half as well as Tolkien I'd be lucky.

You've done a splendid job of evoking Middle Earth in miniature (or at least its more warlike elements). I always liked Vendel Miniatures, but stupidly never bought any when they were still in the UK. I look forward to upcoming instalments.

Renovated some old and basically useless hills into something more dramatic:

Every table needs a ruined watch tower suitable for a heroic stand:

Got some 1/72nd scale plastic "War Trolls" from Dark Alliance for my 28mm Middle Earth armies. About 1/20th of the price of the GW figures and not much smaller. I mean really how big is a troll anyway? So now the evil Necromancer of Angmar has 8 of them for less than Cdn$20. I'm going to initially try them as 2 figure units of Bellicose Foot with the "Shiny Armour" upgrade.

Really nice trolls (if that can be said). Recently I'm seeing them popping up everywhere, the Dark Alliance range has made a success with these.

Re: James' Dragon Rampant Middle Earth Project 28/11/17 more Orcs!
« Reply #43 on: November 28, 2017, 05:42:55 PM »
Some more bigger, meaner Orcs to reinforce the Legions of Angmar. These are some Scotia-Grendel Orcs I bought second hand for my daughter over 20 years ago. She started them. Lost interest, They got put in a box and rediscovered by me last month. My daughter had done a not bad job of blocking in the main colurs so it was pretty quick work to finish them off. So like all Servants of the Enemy they have crept forth from their hiding place to answer the call to war!

They are slightly bigger than my Vendel Orcs, so I'm going to class these fellows as Heavy Foot with the Offensive upgrade.
