I have to say that I really like it!

I also really like the skyscraper buildings too though. Shame it's fairly expensive to buy in the UK (at least, every time I've looked it has been).  :?

Miniature Scenery do some very clever stuff. I've got their 'helicopter gunship' which is a very clever model for mdf. Very much looking forward to this: apparently it's going to be out before Christmas. Just need to decide which version to get!

 :o

IT MUST BE MINE!

So shut up and take my money already...  :D

That is one cracking kit. I've got three of their droppods which I got at a bargain years ago. Those were nice, but I must say, they've come a very long way in their designs.

Of course one will have to work around some of the more obvious MDF traps, such as changing the gubbins in the access wells for some finer detailed stuff (model kit parts). And the airlock in the back will have to be changed into a round one of course. I still have an MPC Millennium Falcon kit lying around which could share some its parts with this little fellow. I think that would be a good match-up...

Can't wait to see it released. here's to hoping it will be affordable enough... ::)

That is simply too steep for mdf and cardboard. And what is that nonsense about 1000 pieces? Make a model available, earn good money for years to come. Sound business model. Limited run of a model that you have already spent the hours designing? Not so sound in my book.

I think they mean the kit comes with almost 1000 pieces for assembly ;)

I honestly don't think that's a bad price but I'm sure they won't get many sales.

A shame as it looks to be a very well thought out kit.

It's a great looking piece and I think the price is in line with what I would expect.  MDF kits are pretty easy to price out.  The more pieces and details = more cut distance.  The more cut distance, the more time on the laser machine, so, higher price.  Manufacturers want $X/hour from their machines.  So most productions are calculated that way.

I doubt they'll be selling many though. The nice thing about MDF kits though is they can be print-to-order effectively.  No real overhead outside of the time spent designing.  They're not casting several hundred and hoping they sell them.  It's one the main attractions to MDF for many manufacturers.

Did you run the numbers on the site? It's only £113,38. (You'll have to forgive my colonial ways; we normally put a point, not a comma, in the price. Hope I did it right.)

It's an amount to cause pause, but only about half your quote, WITH shippage.

Doug

Edit: And when you do, take care. I ran the numbers to the US in dollars, then switched to UK and pounds, and didn't notice the cart had doubled the order. I was one confused hombre for a second!

That's astonishing !!! And borderline tempting.

That said, I'm not sure I would enjoy putting it together. Given my limited, but fairly miserable, prior experience with MDF kits.
