I like it. As a self confessed spaceship-oholic, I'm going to have to pick one up for my RT background planet.

It works out at about £130. Still seems quite expensive. But. Suppose you can't argue with the detail he's put in!

Out of reach for my budget :'(, but I wouldn't say it's overpriced at all. It's such a beauty!

Probably worth it to some folks, but $170 USD is way too steep for my blood and as nicely disguised as they've tried to be there are still many telltale chunky edges and squared parts.

Will a version be available with a less detailed interior?  The kind of interior detailing that looks pretty good on this model adds alot of expsense becase it takes ALOT of parts to acomplish and takes alot more time to cut.

^I had actually thought "that'd be a neat idea to have one with and without interiors..." as a pricing option.

I think they have already stated that they are going to do a version without interiors, after the full version was completed.

Yeah, these are designed by a guy going by the name Mousemuffins. Miniature Scenery hired him on to engineer all the newer laser cut kits when they switched from CNC routered MDF to laser cut and he's pretty much the first in the industry to try things like making vehicles out of MDF, he's kind of a crazy inventor that they let go to town with whatever he wants because he just comes up with unique and inventive ways of making things you would never think could be made of MDF. So all of the laser scenery kits and vehicles have been his design, and this specific freighter has been his dream project that he has jokingly referred to as the "You're-Drunk-MouseMuffins,-Go-Home version", so if you see "YDMMGH" acrnym around, that's why :D A lot of these projects are things he designs for himself and his boss is cool enough to throw it up on their store and see how it sells.

He also has 2 more designs coming out, one with interior but without a lot of the additional paneling details and one without the paneling and without an interior. No price given for the other 2 designs yet, but they are coming

Projects like this make me think about why multimedia should be the future of cutter produced models.  A kit combining MDF for structure, card for paneling and a plastic tube for details would probably be cheaper over all, lighter to ship and more realistic looking.

What scale is this?  I'm assuming 28mm, but we all know what happens when you assume.

I'm waiting for someone to combine MDF with...say...resin, or whatever.  Imagine something like a Thunderhawk from Forge World for 40K.  No reason the large panels shouldn't be MDF etc.

That would probably be ideal.  It does seem though that companies doing MDF and card do seem to be shying away from getting involved with resin casting.  I don't have any personal experience, but compared to cutters, resin casting seems to be quite labor intensive.

I can understand why...large resin models look like a tremendous pain in the ass.  Maybe 3D components mixed with MDF etc.  Who knows.  I think there are some hybrid options which could work out pretty well.

Two Words: "1,000 pieces."  o_o  (OK it's actually a number and one word but still...)

Gorgeous, genius kit but I'll take one sans interior, please.
