Zvezda Cursed Legion (Undead Romans) for Dragon Rampant

Computer is down so took photos via the phone and well... Wow, do the pics ever show the flaws in the painting. Sat down and assembled and painted a good portion of the Zvezda Cursed Legion minis I bought when they were discontinued. Outside of the pain of assembling them, individual hands, feet, sword blades, elbow joints, etc., they painted up pretty easy. It's nice to be back in the swing and have a project coming to fruition after about 18 months of not painting much at all.































Officially have a Dragon Rampant group now and still have figures left over. Hmmm, need some 28mm Roman chariots maybe to really finish it off. Maledrakh was kind enough to sell me some Cursed Legion calvary I just finished assembling that are soon to be primed. I do miss this range, probably the biggest misstep was just how fiddly the miniatures are. All those pieces and honestly they don't really add any customization to them for the work involved.

Anyone know any source for decidedly cheap 28mm chariots? Or possibly have two or three they'd part with to see this project get more diversity?

The minis aren't sealed yet so any painting advise will be appreciated. I'm tempted to rust/muddy them up but just don't know if that would involve so much work to 'crustify' them and then make them maybe pop a bit again.

They look good, but that fiddlyness when assembling them really kills it. I appreciate that metal miniatures are mostly monopiece, assembly isn't my favourite part

  Which, if any, would be the best shield transfers for the oblong shield on the undead Romanss?

Armour and clothes are stainless.Have you considered giving it some rust/dirt effects?

Yeah, thought about the rust and ruin effect but just couldn't do it. I figure I'm not fielding a necromancer in Dragon Rampant so it's possible the group is a lost age undead that were never buried and still have the same care and upkeep their arms and armor. Perhaps they go to war to reproduce as the dead rise to join their social order of undeath?
End of the day I just couldn't start brown and orange washes on them.

In other news, the Zvezda Curse Legion Cavalry I purchased are also finished.











Helping my two kids paint their Dragon Rampant armies now and then I may move into the Zvezda Royal/Empire group as well. Started building some of them and while they're still fiddly they are nowhere near as bad as those skeletons.
