Ordering From Gripping Beast?
« on: December 05, 2016, 04:27:14 PM »
I've got a question for other US members of the forum.

I placed an order directly with Gripping Beast for some of their plastic Dark Age Warriors and Viking Hirdmen.  I received a shipping notice a month ago (11/7) but so far no sign of the package.

I'm just wondering if this is normal for their overseas shipments, or if I should start to be concerned?

Thanks!
Mike

I would be concerned....

I've had pretty quick turnaround from them, although it has been some time since I've ordered from them.

My last order to GB took only 9 days from the "despatched" notice on Nov. 21 to the arrival of my package on Nov. 30. Since a full month has passed for your order, I would send GB a polite email asking them to check on it. After all, the package may have been lost in the post.

UK to US shipping has been horribly slow the past few months. I waited 6weeks for a pkg that last year took 6days. It may still show.

I've been sending a couple of parcels a month to the US... average time has gone up to 4 weeks door-to-door. Most of that spent in US Customs at O'Hare.

I have ordered and received packages from Grand Manner Terrain, Artizen Designs, Copplestone Casting, North Star and Wargames Foundry in the last 30 days.  All 5 shipments took at most 2 weeks each.  Earlier this year, my Gripping Beast packages arrived within 2 weeks as well.  All packages came through O'Hare Airport with no issue.

Gripping Beast have been prompt with their shipment in my dealings with them in the past so drop GB an email to get more shipping information.  Hopefully your package is on it's way, but taking longer than usual instead of being stolen from your front door.

I've always had quick reliable service from GB, so a parcel taking this long is certainly not normal for them.

Even if they did not provide a tracking number to you, they may have info on the parcel - you could email them with your order number and see if they can actually locate the parcel en route.  Worth a shot.

Just wanted to tie this thread up with a final update.  I finally got my order from GB a week ago.  A month and a half but I did get everything.

Not unusual for US mail during the holiday season, unfortunately.

A recent order from Caliver Books in the UK took over a month to reach me in Denmark (shipped November 20th, arrived December 30th)

If you need or want it soon in the U.S. {Unless Gripping Beast is running a special deal that can't be beat} you really cannot beat the speed from the Warstore or FRP Games or Noble Knight, there's others, or even some of the major state-side Ebayers, shop around.  Of course they often don't carry everything in the line or even as much as what Architects of War use to carry.  I have customers in the UK that I do commission work for and the packages to them arrive sooner than packages from them, usually.

Not referring to Gripping Beast here, but last year I had three UK parcels which were franked by Royal Mail between 6 and 9 days later than the despatch email indicated, meaning that the company(s) had sat on them until they had a big pile to take/be collected.

On the other hand, I've also had a Games Workshop parcel arrive before I got the despatch email. :-)

Not GB, but I had a Perry order arrive within 6 days - UK to Canada. Stunning fast especially as New Years holiday was in there.
