That actually looks pretty nice. A bit 'wooden', if you will (pardon the pun), as there is no weight to the structure. So no sag in the roofline for instance. Something they went rather over the top with on the old plastic WHFB buildings. ;)

So these wouldn't easily mix with those without looking a bit out of place. Still very nice terrain though; the reversible walls are a great idea. Too bad they didn't do that back in the day with the WHFB buildings...

And from the GW site:

...these wooden structures were infamously swamped in flame by the great Smaug™ the Terrible...

lol lol lol

Smaugtee-Em; we call him Smaug for short. :D

They did (and with the roof plates as well IIRC), but both sides were still covered in skulls and comets and other tedious nonsense.  ::)

Did they? We're talking about the Chapel, Watchtower and Mansion, right? I have a hernia-worthy amount of those lying around, and as far as I know, those are not reversible...  ???

The ridge of the roof looks kinda half-bothered, especially on the rotate-a-vision images. The painted models are probably resin preproduction copies which would explain why they're a bit warped, but there still doesn't seem to have been any effort to sculpt a ridge tile.

I reckon those Lake Town houses look pretty good and with a little effort could be very useful indeed.
The wooden walkways are a great bonus.
The price is pretty good too.
Kudos to GW for producing them.

Thanks for the tip-off, Hammers, and as I dont really look at much GW stuff, these would have completely passed me by for a while.

If they did more useful things like this they would have my custom more frequently. The plastic forrest is rather good to.

That's the range I mean, yes.

As far I know, the chapel is reversible?

Can't remember if any elements of the mansion are reversible, but the watchtower isn't.

Edit: apologies, my memory is apparently rather faulty on this occasion! None of them are reversible.  o_o

Agreed!

The trees and Osgiliath ruins were both very nice kits.

I agree, sir.
I have a set of the woods and they do tart up pretty well.

Based to match my standard board, they have seen use in plenty of genres, mostly Old West and Strange Aeons but, strangely, not in a fantasy setting (yet!).......

The Citadel Wood is really cool but at 30 USD is pricey for a stand of three trees.

The Lake-town houses by contrast are very good bang for your buck considering the cost of similar items across the wider market, which GW usually ignores. So exactly the opposite of the situation with the Citadel Wood.

I snagged the three pack as soon as they came up for pre-order. They are currently sold out worldwide as folks tend to know a good deal when they see one. Rumour is GW is trying to get them back in stock ASAP.

They re-released the ruins recently. I snapped up two sets, with plans to do some cutting and make one real nice overgrown ruin! Definitely a nice kit.

That is a fair point regarding the price point of the Wood.

I picked mine up for a reasonable price on ebay, but may well baulk at paying that much (they were cheaper here in the UK).
They do come out pretty nice, though......

And, yes, I do want some of those Lake Town houses, which really are a decent price.

I liked the Osgiliath ruins kit quite a lot at first but less so after working with it. Even so, I still think it is a pretty nice value at current pricing - far less so during the recent peak ebay pricing for LotR kits.

Anyhow here are some of my efforts with it:

The citadel scenery range is something I've always wanted to get hold of, but never made that considered decision to purchase.

If I remember correctly the Garden of Morr kit looked particularly versatile, especially for things like Mordheim. Also always wanted the trees, oh bugged, this has got me thinking of 28mm stuff again.
