NRC5 - Frostgrave (Getting picture heavy)
« on: December 11, 2016, 11:32:53 AM »
Hi All.

Been browsing a while now, decided it was time to contribute. After finishing our last campaign my group were looking for a new game. As I DM, I decided on a tweaked version of Frostgrave ( me and one of my other players had started playing it, and I fell in love with the system). I've tweaked the game to have more RPG elements, but that's for another topic. Today, I'm sharing the scenery I've been working on. Our first game is not till the new year, so this is all still WIP, but hopefully it'll give you all an idea of where I'm going.

Material wise, this is all mainly foam board, polystyrene sheets and glue, with some pre-made stuff dropped in. Random wooden bits for additional desgin work, and blue foam bricks as foundations for the more "affluent" ruins"

First up, my finished test piece. Just a generic house. FOr my design choices, I've gone with the idea that the richer someone was, the more wood they had available to them, hence wooden floors and timber door frames. The poorer houses were just stone block with cloth roofs put up as "Welfare improvements"

Next, we have another generic house.

Next, we have the first of my "Wizard Towers". The idea behind this one would be a Wizards store, with their tower attached.

Next, my second tower. This one is for a Scenario I have planned. Its sort of a wizards lighthouse, with the magical flame at the top.

Next we have a poor quarter, with a light up firepit in the middle.

Next, a small storehouse.

Now, the first two pieces of my city walls, with wooden walkway on one side.

A couple of poor houses, with a dead tree in the middle.

A selection of small walls.

Now, a big store room with ruins of a second level. I had a bunch of clay tiles I got off eBay to use, and thought they looked good as the floor here.

A ruined Inn.

A ruined house with remains of a second story

A ruined store, with living quarters next to it.

A large stone block of flats (I guess, I wasn't sure what I was making when I put this together)

A ruined blacksmiths, with bits of the forge.

A ruined guard tower.

Some loose scatter ruins.

One more ruined house.

The fences and contents of an old graveyard.

Some scatter terrain. A water tower, a well and ice columns.

A selection of statues to dot around the city.

And that's it as far as scenery so far. I'll be working on finishing as much of this as I can over the next few weeks and will post updates when they are done. I have also got all the miniatures I have put together (again, most not painted) but i'll have to photograph them first.

Any comments, questions or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Looks excellent!  I love the walkways around the wall.  Should add some interesting encounters up there. (Push spells are fun...)

Great stuff.  So much of it too... you must have most of a table already.  I look forward to seeing the updates as you get it all painted up.

Thanks all for the positive feedback. Perhaps later today I'll get round to photographing the warband minis and bestiary I've put together.

Very little painted though so far. I have difficulty visualising colour schemes so it's takes a while to get painting buildings are much easier, hence more progress

Removed due to redundancy. Nobody wants to see a bunch of unpainted miniatures :)

Hi Everyone.

Been a little while since I posted. I've been beavering away at my scenery, as you can see below in these board shots from the latest game I played with my friend. My elementalist lizardman warband vs his Human chronomancer warband. I won by the way, thanks to my mighty knight wiping half of his warband in defence of one building, before falling to a measly thug (Knight fully recovered though, but the thug got eaten by my drakes/warhounds

Today though, is a showoff of some of the random encounters I have finished painting. Here you can see a pair of snow trolls and a group of Ice Toads.

I have also sorted out a few wizards. Next weekend i'm going to be running a game of frostgrave merged with our in-house rules as a more RPG based game (Frostgrave combat and settings, in-house out of combat and rpg) I've re-purposed these from old miniatures I had lying around (and my old apprentice when I had a human based warband)

Any comments, questions or suggestions welcome

CPModels. They're 15mm scale carnosaurs

Hi all again.

Been paining up some more creatures, so here they are.

First, a giant Frost Worm.

A pack of wolves

Now then, with these creatures running around, my players will need some muscle to wallop them. Here is a thief and two thugs, and some warhounds.

I've got some more to photograph, just waiting for the bases to dry solid. Might get them posted later.
