A pair of 32's
« on: December 19, 2016, 01:44:20 PM »
Building a pair of 32's for a New Bern (ACW) scenario.  First gun is about 90% as shown.  Second is about 60%.  May redo the tube on this one as it is a bit stubby.  Maybe a 42?

Always a pleasure to see your work. What material is the cannon itself?

The gun tube is part of a paint brush handle detailed with plastic sheet and tube. I just paint it with whatever color is handy to even up the color and better see what might need some more filler or a better sanding.
Thanks for the kind comments. Always great to get a boost from the LAF crew! Regards, Rob.

Lovely guns as always! Especially the carriages.

Both carriages are about done.  Have blocked out two new gun barrels to make two similar guns. They will be a little slimmer than the one shown here. (My paint brush collection is suffering as I sacrifice paint brush handles to make gun tubes!) Best of the season, Rob.

Completed two new 32 sized tubes.  The 'red' one is a bit stubby and will get promoted to a 42.  The main portion is a tapered section of a paint brush, detailed with plastic sheet, some tubing and a bit o' filler.  The cascabel ends are dress makers pins.

Very cover use of a paint brush, I would never have thought of that. :)
