Zombies of Karr-Keel
« on: December 21, 2016, 04:09:24 PM »
For all you Kev Adams and Zombie fans unaware, there's a great project running from a facebook group at by Brian Kirkell
https://www.facebook.com/groups/298963440434803/

Very reasonably priced at 40 US dollars for 10 zombies (50 dollars after the 3rd of January)
Fantastic sculpts with lots of character that will fit well with Kev Adam's classic citadel zombies

Love them, but why they are using a closed Facebook page for promoting these is beyond me  o_o.

Great figures but as I'm not on Facebook they're probably not going on "the list".

The group started as an offshoot from the oldhammer/sculpting facebook group, and initially was a way to gauge interest, not really as a promotional tool, now that he has paid for the masters he's simply taking orders from anyone interested for the initial castings

Brian can be contacted directly via email

Yes, a really lovely set. And an interesting story behind it, too.

Just a regular guy who wants more classic zombies :)

I've ordered my set - tracking down the old Harlequin zombies (my favourite ever) was just proving too slow and expensive, and these are perfect. So much character, as one would expect from the sainted hands of Kev Adams. The piggyback pair is my favourite.

Ouch didn't yet knew that the Harlequin ones became OOP...  I have to agree that those are just as nice as the old citadel ones. Do you know who sculpted those?
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

I'm pretty sure if we email them they will become available again. Black Tree do have quite some older figures not featured on their site ( some Drakul fighters, the older pre-slotta Kev White stuff, the ZZ Top Dwarf e.g. ) but if they still own the moulds in my experience they will cast some up.
Have quite a few of those older Zombies myself but it never hurts to have more...  ;)

And Brax, as you know, we both forgot to order quite some models during our last shopping frenzy with them *hint hint*.  :D

Edit: drat, I was going to buy less models in 2017  ::)

Forgot?  As far as i remember, I had reached by budget and even went some over it by adding quie a heap of (mostly) good looking metal dwarfs to the lead pile.

Ordering more off course never hurts.

Hey all!

This thread got me off my lazy rear end after years of lurking, and I'm now a member.

The whole zombie thing started off as a 40th birthday present from my wife.  My grand plan was to commission a couple of new Kev Adams zombies, throw an Oldhammer birthday event at my house, and give a set to everyone who came by.

When Kev couldn't complete the greens in time for the party, I looked at the project, and decided to expand it a bit.  I created a Facebook group and started sharing all my stories, concepts, plans, and costs, and the whole thing ballooned into what is likely to become 20 zombies in the near term, and, if people help me keep the ball rolling, all kinds of fun stuff in the long term.

This project has been particularly odd because my goal has never been to start a business or make money.  Essentially, I took a nut of capital, put it into making a bunch zombies, and am selling them at a low cost to anyone who wants them.  The goal is to maintain the original capital level for as long as possible, so I can produce zombies and related minis ad infinitum.

I hope that helps clear up the reasons for the awful business planning and marketing.

Best regards,

Brian
