Valiant Miniatures Tommies...
« on: December 21, 2016, 05:01:03 PM »
What does the Brethren think to these hard plastic figures?
I gormed them when they first came out and wasn't overly impressed. Now, because the old farts I game with need to go to Specsavers, we've had to get some cheap figures that we can actually see. In our games a bloke shoots wot he's toting, so you need to be able to make what he's tooled up with. I got a box of Valiant Tommies and they're kind of growing on me, nice and chunky, with delightful heads that remind me of 15mm Minifigs in their heyday!

I like them. Got a sprue of yanks with an issue of Wargames Illustrated iirc. They do the job well enough a single box works for a basic force in many game systems. I've got far too much invested in 15mm to change now though.

I like them. I sold off all my smaller 20mm and intended to start off again with these and 1/72 vehicles. Currently the whole thing is on hold, has been for 5 years lol
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :

How big are they compared to (say) Bolt Action plastics?

There was a rumour earlier this year that someone - Armourfast? - are going to release scaled down versions in 20mm. If they do I might be interested in them

Colin at Valiant told me they will have a range of British Paratroopers out in the next 18 months. These may well be a tad special as Mr. Rumford is a bit of an Arnhem buff.

It's the second time he has brought out paratroopers. I used to have the Chiltern 20mm Brit Paras in metal

If that's true, I'll buy the scale down version too...  :?

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

I like them, but just wish they would do some East Front infantry so that there was a more rounded collection to buy into.
