Imperial Star Destroyer Bridge level schematics?
« on: December 29, 2016, 04:32:55 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I've been one a star wars kick lately, well since the mediocre ep7 came out really.  I want to run some games on the bridge level of an Imperial Star Destroyer and I want to create that level for gaming.

Does anyone know where I could get something like that on the internets?  Failing that, anywhere really?

Looking for deck layout, rooms, that sort of thing.

My google-fu is exhausted, so any help is appreciated.

Arebyou just looking for a deckplan from which to scratch build some terrain? or are you looking for something pre-made?

If the latter, just use the plan of the Executor's bridge, as seen in ESB and RotJ. I'm reasonably confident that the same set was used to film scenes aboard ISD bridges in ESB. For detailed analysis see:

Deckplan to scratch build.  I am gong to make it, but I need more inspiration.  I can get loads of images of the cool multi deck bridge with the gangplank that the big wigs walk on.  But I'd like something more to work with.

Everything I find online concerns the outside of the ship.

Thanks Manchu, I hadn't seen that, that's a beautiful start.  That is exactly what I'm after, just more of it! :)

Your best source is going to be ESB - have the bluray by any chance?

You get a nice view of the comms console when Vader insists to Ozzel that the probe driod on Hoth has located the Rebel base. I believe that is also the backdrop for Ozzel's demise.

Vader kills Needa in front of the hologram pod. You can also see the bridge access doors in that shot, plus some great views of the bulkheads.

Piett appears down in the crew pit just before Vader lectures the bounty hunters. The rest of the bridge shots in ESB show Vader pacing around the viewports and up and down the walkway.

I have the huge "Making of" archive books published for the 30th Anniversary - I am on vacay thru next week but will check the ESB volume for relevant stills when I get home.

Thanks for any help :)

Like I say, that area is the easy part.  I want to have my rebels fight across the ship, perhaps ending up in the main bridge.  I'm hoping for a deck plan of a much greater area. Could even be a fan version, doesn't need to be official.

Found this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yjff3kn5c82yrx9/Star%20Destroyer.png

In the thread where they talked about it, they also said that the old WEG RPG had a sourcebook - Starfall - with an adventure inside a Star Destroyer. The image comes from that book.

Yeah, I keep coming up with the bridge at the top of the 'T', brilliant, though I'll admit admirals appear really expendable. Kack-able for mere object lessons. Without a leash, Vader would have been dropping them in droves.

Point is, the T comes to a point at the top; I don't think there's a lot of deck there. Your raiders will have to travel other decks to get to the bridge.

Whatever happened to a proper, in-the-bowels-of-the-ship, C-in-C?

And here's the thread ;)

Predatorpt, you are a scholar and a gentleman.  That thread is pretty much all the questions I'm asking here.  Time to delve in.  Thanks for the links!

@the_Beast - I don't think that 'bridge room' is at the absolute top, I'm pretty sure it's just the front of a whole level.  I'll let you know after I've had a proper go at the reddit thread linked here.

Unfortunately the Starfall plan is of a Victory class destroyer which has a different layout to an Imperial class. If you're not too bothered though go for it  :)

The other book that would be a help is the WEG Death Star Technical Companion which, although isn't focussed on ISD's, does have an awful lot of Imperial 'set ups' that would/could be of use.

Since there isn't any exact plans out there, I'll go with whatever.  I've never been one to let the differences in made up stuff like this bother me.

Thanks for all the advice folks, I've acquired all the relevant books mentioned and will be combing them for info!

Planning a new laser cut mega terrain set?  Perhaps an alternate interior for your Zeppelin?

Hah! No Zeppelin involved in this one :) Purely a personal project, but totally laser cut!  Looking for something I can kick my kids butt around on :)

I suppose I could sell it if folks wanted it, it won't really be a copyright issue if there is no real deck plan available?  The problem is when you make something for commercial sale rather than a personal one off you increase the workload tenfold.  It's different building something so others can build it easily, making directions, optimizing sheets for cutting, promoting to get sales to make all that worthwhile...
