While I only play straight WWII at squad level, I can heartily recommend both Operation Squad Evolution (available as a PDF via Wargames Vault & a book from Warlord Games) & Warwick Kinrade's Normandy Firefight. the former is a squad level game using 10-12 models a side (a rifle squad plus a light support weapon - there are vehicle rules, but anything bigger than a light armoured car or halftrack seeme a bit much - though the option is there for tanks) & plays in a fairly quick fashion (there's a youtube video of a basic game at; youtube.com/watch?v=z-RHozeoerU).
Normandy Firefight is a slightly different beast, being originally for 3-5 54mm figures (Warwick includes how to scale it for different sized models - 20 & 28mm) & while there's a greater level of detail than your average 28mm game, it's far from overwhelming & also produces a fast moving game (it's also a pleasingly slim & inexpensive volume that's well written - as you'd expect from the author of the Battlegroup books - I got mine from Northstar).
I'm suggesting these as it's nice to have the option of playing smaller, faster games occasionally, where the only investment is a rulebook as you'll already have the minis & scenery - hope this was of help!
(I'm planning to add Agis's Victory Decision Raid to the list, the VD range also provides pretty sound rules for larger games.)
