Indigenous Australians
« on: January 04, 2017, 01:50:34 AM »
I've posted these here because my plan was to use these against some early British explorers and the like, but my apologises if this is not the place.
These are Eureka miniatures new Denosovans which I have painted up as Indigenous Australians, they are really beautiful figures and a joy to paint. I have
attempted to do some dot painting on their shields which I did with a tooth pick, I think it has come out alright.

Lovely painting (including the kangaroos), I'm going to pick some up this week I think.

Great work !

If you don't want to use the Eureka, you can try with the Perry's cape war xhosa.
They are nude and more dynamic. Just need to change the heads with plastic dervish ones found in the perry box if you don't use the fuzzy wuzzy ones, of course.

Like the kangoroo too.

You could use Congo for games set in Australia; obviously substitute other animals for lions and gorillas (perhaps marsupial lion or Tasmanian Tiger for the lion and giant wombat for the gorilla).

Need help from one of you more clever than I.

I have searched the Eureka website for 'denisovan', Denosovan, and checked almost every  silly-ass category under Pax limpopo, but cannot locate these figures.

Might I be awarded a direct link, perhaps?

I realize I don't deserve it.

Thanks, Chick

Chick - they've only been just produced, it takes a while for them to appear on the Eureka Miniatures website. However - if you email Nic directly:
https://eurekamin.com.au/contact_us.php

He'll be able to sort you out.

Thanks for the comments guys, they are greatly appreciated. There are a few more types I haven't painted yet, some being more suitable for First Australians and others that have a more "generic" look. As Von Lucky has so kindly stated these are brand new and I picked them up from Eureka in-store, but I am sure if you email Nic he can sort you out.

And I believe Scurv is right about this one Leigh, Nic had these made to coincide with the upcoming set of Tribal/Primeval rules being made by some friends of his and they are based off some very nice sketches that one of the authors did, or I believe anyway..  :D

Scur is correct, made to fit in with the new rules coming from Mana Press.
Lovely paint job, Fire Whack. As son as Mana Press get the rules to us, we should have these u[ on the web site.
In the mean time, as we always say, if there is something we have and you would like 'pre-release' copies, get in touch.

As they like to style themselves now. It is believed that they came to Oz about 30,000 years ago and pushed out a very small population of a more ancient people as happened in much of the world.

Great paint job Firescale Whack!

One look at these in person today and I had to busy some. The 'roos are fantastic. Some mighty Eastern Greys, you have there. I'm looking forward at having a go at the Emu this week too.

What I'll be looking for after I get a good mob of these guys is some megafauna for them to hunt as well! I'd love mob of Genyornis newtons. See here for some inspiration: http://www.abc.net.au/science/ozfossil/megafauna/fauna/fauna.htm
and http://australianmuseum.net.au/diprotodon-optatum

Cheers - inspiring work!

Fantastic, these really look the part. Not that I have ever met an Indigenous Australian in person. My best mate is a white Australian though. There must be something about the place because he still wants to go back after 20 years here.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.
