The Walking Dead, Za Zjurman style.
« on: January 01, 2017, 02:30:55 PM »
So, to begin with I totally missed out on the Mantic TWD Kickstarter  >:( I realized this when I went to Crisis Antwerp in November. At the Mantic stand they had some Kickstarter edition boxes but... I already spent my money  >:(

I thought the miniatures were brilliant though so I managed to buy one of the last boxes through their website.

The Positives
1 The miniatures are truly brilliantly sculpted.
2 The miniatures are a joy to paint.
3 The cars and barricades are very nice.
4 The game is fun.

The negative
The mold lines (flash?) are a B#TCH to clean.

Overall I am very content buying the box ant I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

I started painting the first zombies and survivors for the beginners scenario. Hope you like them. C&C more then welcome.

More to follow.

Cheers,

Za

I'd written off the Kickstarter but the game is getting a lot of love.  Something I might pick up at some point.  I'll be definitely getting the terrain booster, lots of uses.

Nice paint jobs, really characterful particularly the survivors.

I agree on the positives, this game is definitely one of last year's highlights. I totally regret that I didn't completely went to town during the KS..darn.
I must have been lucky as my figures (I've got two KS sets and the Rick and Morgan expansions so far) hardly have any mold lines. Therefore I'll have to give it 9 out of 10. Easily.   8)

Anyhow, I really dig the autumnal theme you've got going on there. Nice, keep'em coming!!

Cheers

Nice PJ on the minis!  :-*

Have heard only good things about the TWD game so far... if I was going to start a Z project, then I guess it would be one to get.

Thanks all. The mold lines are not big ( I have seen way worse) but are just very difficult to remove. But that is the only negative so far.

Cheers.

Great photos too.  The natural tones work perfectly for these goodies.

Judging by the buzz here and on FB, TWD is one of the games getting most painting attention that I have ever seen.

Rarely did so many players paint up the contents of a board game box so fast - and with such nice results!

I almost regret not getting in on it - but as I have hundreds of unpainted zeds and plenty modern armed minis to use as responders/survivors, I shall probably manage to get by  lol

Well all this attention has convinced me.  Having 30 quid Amazon voucher burning a hole in my wallet I bought a core set which in effect cost me 3 quid (that's how finance works!)

Unfortunately next time payday rolls around I can see myself picking up some of the boosters and expansions.  The Governor Set is a must.  I want the 3D terrain,  The Days gone By pack seems cool etc etc

Thanks for the kind replies. The miniatures are great and paint up wonderful. I finished the cars, barricades etc. pictures will follow.

And I played 3 games today with a good friend. (obviously forgot to take pictures  lol) Gameplay is brilliant. This is probably the best game I ever played. Fun, fast, crazy it had everything. Utter chaos everywhere. We had a blast. First played the tutorial scenario twice and then made our own scenario with 150 point each. Easy peasy rules and again so much fun. Gameplay wise I give it a 10 out of 10. My wife also wants to play the game so tomorrow I will take pictures.

Cheers,

Za

Your models look great;  Really digging what you did with your walkers.  I was hoping a few more people would post their painted models for the starter as I just completed rinsing and basing my newly arrived set and have been trying to decide how I will paint mine.

I regret not getting in on the Kickstarter as well but my, "speculative" gaming fund got eaten up by This is Not a Test.  I am happy with my choice though because the former is an awesome addition to my collection of cool games and Mantic's price point once they got into proper production was pretty sweet.

I haven't read the rules yet but looking over the models prior to priming was really enjoyable.  I love the sculpts and am looking forward to painting those characterful walkers.
