Psyber Does Conan
« on: January 05, 2017, 02:38:10 PM »
Though the suggestive thread title may promise of double entendre, it is in fact just self explanatory  lol

Here's my first effort for the Conan game by Monolith, which has provided yet another distraction from the painting queue!

Altogether now...

Great stuff! Love the muscle highlights.

And... I'm not sure if I should ask him what's best in life, or just mumble "you're terminated!" <g>

I'm pretty unimpressed the miniature I have, so you've done some splendid work making it look that good!

Fantastic! I know he's Conan, but he looks like he belongs on the Heroquest cover! :-*

Fantastic! I think that's the best painted example of this model I've seen.

Thanks guys.

I was heavily inspired by Remy Tremblay's paint job - especially painting extra strands of hair to stop it looking rounded and, well, plastic :)

@Elbows The hero models look awful in bare plastic, and they need a lot of work. It took me three times longer than usual to get this standard of finish compared to the other barbarians I've painted. TBH, I'm really tired of seeing the argument from the Monolith fans that it's the colour of the plastic making the details look shallow, but actually they're amazing, etc. It is *not* true. The lighter plastic models have rounded edges, poorly defined details, etc, compared to the dark grey bad guy models. I'm currently painting Belit, and she's awful. Most of the detail will be painted on, I think, but she's so tiny I might need laser eye surgery halfway through  lol

Psyber, your GREAT paint job with that PERFECT face gives great value to what otherwise seems to me just another anatomically-challenged miniature, CONGRATULATIONS  ;)

Amazing what you did to this mediocre miniature. So far haven't painted up any one of them and I wanted to skip the whites alltogether, but this is promising....
