Started on the engines:

Two old marker pens, plastic girder plastic card and toothpaste tube tops ( but no sticky-back plastic! lol )

Oh, I'm disappointed - No sticky-back plastic!

Looking great.

Minor progress on the engines; wrapped the pens in thin plastic card and added the resin intakes

Added the basic tail pieces:

Finished off the wings and continued the lines of the cockpit rearwards (trying to make it appear less "boxy"):

Absolutely brill thread - I'm knicking ideas here for my (eventual and totally theoretical at the moment) 1/300 landing ship. The landing gear are really fantastic, and those toothpaste lids are inspired. Perfect.

I am impressed by your skills in finding and using scraps. A historical model makes it more difficult, imo, to be creative.

How did you stick the plasticard to the pens?
The 2 pens were fixed to the plastic girder with UHU, as the rough bond would be hidden by the next stage.  I then stuck one end of the sheet to a pen with superglue then, once it had dried, wrapped the pre-curved card around and glued the overlapping plastic card (hidden on the underside) with EMA Plasweld.

I am impressed by your skills in finding and using scraps. A historical model makes it more difficult, imo, to be creative.
A completely fictitious model means no-one can tell you where you are making a mistake.  :D
It also allows you to use any component you think fits in, rather than having to find something (or build something) that matches a component in a real item.  I admire any build in this contest re-creating a documented (real or imagined) craft.

I have now added a couple of intakes to improve the look of the nose end:

The engines have been attached and rear fuselage completed:

It now needs all the details adding:

Apart from one small detail (still waiting the required component) the build is now completed:

The completed model in its Really Useful (9L) hangar:

Going to be pushed for time with the painting as I'm likely to be busy with work between now and the closing time.  ::)

LOVE!.......IT! :-* The back engine compartment is my favourite single piece of it. I love the angles of it all AND the perfect amount of gubbins!

I couldn't agree more.
A wonderful finished article.

Oh, and the fact that the Really Useful Hangar Company have made a product to fit it perfectly is a sure sign that they fully expect to see many thousands go into production.
